Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Central Asia (CDC / CAR) is implementing the Sentinel Surveillance Program (SS) for influenza in 9 regions of Kazakhstan. The SS program involves 31 sentinel polyclinics and 27 sentinel hospitals, in which patients are counted according to the standard definition of the case with influenza-like diseases. This program also allows for the assessment of circulating influenza viruses in various regions of Kazakhstan, as the regions included in the program either border neighboring countries or, in the case of the cities of Astana and Almaty, are regions with significant population migration.

Within the framework of the SS program implementation, two-day seminars were held to improve the work of medical organizations involved in the program:

September 17-18, 2015 – for doctors working in polyclinics;

September 21-22, 2015 – for hospital epidemiologists of medical organizations;

September 28, 2015 – for epidemiologists of health departments and hospital epidemiologists of medical organizations in Almaty.

EZS Agency provided a full package of services for the organization of seminars: purchase of air and railway tickets for nonresident participants, transportation services and hotel accommodations, catering and coffee breaks, preparation of conference rooms with all necessary equipment, preparation and production of handouts on printed and electronic media, general coordination at events, etc.
